This watercolor looks back at St Andrews Cathedral circa 1900, not with nostalgia's heat but with memory's quiet hush. Working from archival greyscale reference, I have rendered the scene in a deliberately restrained palette, a colored greyscale where soft earth tones, muted umbers, and gentle cool greys exist in careful balance. The cathedral rises with quiet dignity; its Gothic windows, stone buttresses, and spire are traced with delicate but confident brushwork. There is no drama, no forced contrast. Instead, the painting breathes, allowing the viewer to step into a moment suspended between eras. The foreground figures, small and unhurried, remind us that life once moved at a different pace. This piece honors the endurance of place, rendered not in vibrant life but in the soft language of recollection.
