Peeling Memories

This watercolor captures the timeworn charm of an old weatherboard house, where pale yellow paint peels away to reveal raw timber beneath. Two rusted corrugated-metal awnings, one over a navy-blue paneled window and one over the timber front door, echo each other in weathered symmetry, with a small louvered vent above. Wasp nests under the eaves and worn wooden steps suggest a home left to age gracefully. Painted in a muted, near-monochromatic palette, it favors texture over color, part of my ongoing work preserving the quiet dignity of heritage buildings before their details fade.
