Crown of Melbourne

This watercolor captures the dome of Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Building, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed landmark built in 1880. Rendered in a minimalist, near-monochromatic palette, its intricate detailing is stripped back to essential lines, shadow and light, while the Australian flag flies atop the dome. Part of my ongoing series reviving vintage Australian cityscapes and heritage architecture for a new generation, the restrained palette draws attention to form and structure, echoing the building's timeless character.
